Wildlife candles

We love discovering other candle makers, and it is always a pleasure meeting up with them to witness their passion and craftsmanship firsthand, and to talk about their craft. We recently visited Swazi Candles, a beautiful candle maker located in a stunning part of the world.

Established in 1982 in Eswatini, a small landlocked country in Southern Africa, all Swazi candles are made on site in their Malkerns Valley workshop by skilled artisans, and the inspiration for their creations is clear. Formerly known as Swaziland, Eswatini is home to national parks featuring majestic wildlife, and beautiful countryside shaped by mountain ranges, impressive canyons and incredible rock formations.

As soon as you enter the workshop, you are greeted by a plethora of iconic African animals; here you'll find elephants, rhinos and hippos in a range of bright colours and patterns, as well as more traditional candles like tea lights and pillars.

It is mesmerising to watch an African elephant take shape out of a ball of wax in the hands of one of their talented candle makers. No moulds here, it is all done by hand and therefore every candle is slightly different, just like no two animals are ever the same.

We’re excited to work with Swazi Candles and to be able to offer a small selection of their candles here in Australia. Elegant and colourful, these African wildlife candles will surely brighten up your home and be a talking point for all those who enter.
